The Windows are IN and the Sheetrock is up!

It's a Miracle, we aren't freezing anymore!
Most of you are probably thinking, this lady should be decorating for Christmas, and while I would agree, we are just not ready yet! Now that the windows are in, and the sheetrock is up we are nearing close. Once the sheetrock is finished, I can begin to clean the major dust that has accumulated throughout the house, and start pulling the decorations out. Which I hope will be this weekend! Because I literally will have one week before my party! Talk about the all time crunch! The good news is, we pick up our fridge tomorrow and the cabinets come on Thursday. The bad news is, that today I decided the tile flooring I picked out, really isn't going to be the best choice, I found another that I really like, but it is special order! So it will definitely be the last thing we put in, but I would rather have what I really want than to settle and be disappointed down the road. Everyone says you should not put Marble in the Kitchen, while I did pass on putting it on the countertops, I am not passing on the flooring! I am girl that knows what she loves and if that means going against the grain, than here I am going with no return! : ) I hope that you are enjoying the journey, because believe me it has been stressful, but it will be so worth it in the end!

Please check out my facebook page for more up to date information on what else I am up to!

The Joys of remodeling!

As you can see in the picture above we are currently without windows. There is a few reasons for that..1) we purchased windows and currently have them, but when we removed the old ones, we discovered they were not the correct size from the original build 2) the windows were already out and dismantled, and we have ordered another set to fit but they will not be here till Friday.
So yesterday they created plastic windows to protect the kitchen from the rain, fabulous I know! I am sure my neighbors are thrilled (ha)!
The beauty is at 5 am this morning I woke up abruptly to realize that I had left my indoor plant out back and it is snowing. I go down stairs to recover it and find that my lovely clear plastic windows have been blown out. Just to remind you it is snowing out and my downstairs temperature is the same as the outside! So what do I do.... Yell up to my honey who is fast asleep, "Beau?" "we have a problem" on my second "Beau?" I get a response in a lovely grizzly bear tone, "I will be there in a minute."

Flower Power!

Add some flowers to add a punch of color, or to even create elegance in a room. This is an arrangement that I just put together for one of my clients. Flowers are warm and inviting. Fresh flowers, such as lavender will fill the room with fragrance. There are so many options when it comes to flowers whether artificial or fresh it can give that room some energy it may be lacking!

Happy Shopping!

Personalization to Your Space!

To add a personal touch to your space, add a monogramed item. For the Bathroom you can do towels, or even a bath rug, some websites offer shower curtains too. For the Living room, use it in an accent pillow. In the dining room have some chair covers made to fit.

This inexpensive add can give your space a sense of stateliness along with a touch of elegance.

Enjoy!

Inspiration from Oregon

After a fabulous trip in Oregon, I must share with you the inspiration I seen walking right of the gate in the Portland Airport. Talk about recycling, and making something amazing and beautiful. Check out these gowns that some designers had taken coffee filters and crown bags and transformed them into something wearable and beautiful!

I am also throwing in a picture of the coastline of Oregon. We traveled from Cannon Beach, OR to the Redwood Forest in California. I would suggest that everyone take this voyage. The scenery was breathtaking, seeing whales and sea lions in their own habitat was just amazing.

My Surprise Find at a Yard Sale!

1961 Grace Kelly Cover for American Weekly
1961 Grace Kelly

Talk about a find, and almost having non buyers remorse. I bought this beautiful print for a quick $3 at a Yard Sale this past weekend. I almost passed on this because I was being stubborn and didn't want to pay $5. And for those who know me, go ahead an crack up. I know I spend a lot more on a lot less.... but sometimes I am just stubborn (thanks to my Mom for working the deal out for me!) This will be a wonderful asset to my home once reframed and maximized to it's actual potential.

In my opinion Grace Kelly was the epitome of elegance and I believe this is translated in this cover. I had to share this nice surprise from a Yard Sale.

Go check out some of your local yard sales, you never know what you will run across!

Getting Ready for School!

Hello All!
Sorry for the delay in posting, I took a small vacation to the Smokey Mountains with my family. It was wonderful. So here is what I have dived into since being home. This is a report on the office I have been working on for a good friend of mine who just accepted a principal position at Hills Elementary. I am very excited for her, and I am excited to help get her office in top shape for the new school year. We still have some things to add, and a few pictures to get up on the wall, but this is great start! This is a prime example of how organization alone can transform a space. Take a peak!

Behr Paint - Believe the Hype!

Behr Paint

If you are starting a painting project, then I highly suggest looking at Behr paint. They have a new paint that is a primer and color in one. I have used lots of paints, but nothing has been as great as this to work with. They have loads of color options to choose from, you can pick this paint up at your local Home Depot. Visit the link above to start browsing colors and room ideas!

Happy Painting!

This room is missing something? Oh, I know the curtains!

Have you ever walked into a room and felt like there is something missing?
In my head I think, "This place could use some CURTAINS!"

Curtains can be an inexpensive update if shopping at the right store. Like picking up some nice curtain rods at Big Lots, Target, and Lowes. Not to mention these places have inexpensive curtains to go with the rods. Oh, and check out your local HomeGoods and TJ Maxx too! So what I am saying if you think your room needs warmed up and softened, then think CURTAINS!

This is a good example of how curtains and paint can completely change the look of a room.

Don't always think you have to hang a picture

You don't always have to hang a picture to give an area some pizazz!

I found these beautiful lanterns at our local TJ Maxx, and said the myself "Why can't I hang these in the house, why do they have to be outside?" And then I immediately knew what to do with them. I have a small foyer at the bottom of my stairs that has lacked some luster for some time. I knew these would not only add to the aesthetics of this area, but also give this space ambiance and dimension. Sure wall art is wonderful! I am the number one fan of art. But sometimes stepping away from the regular, one can create something spectacular!

Enjoy!

Making Something Out of Nothing!

This is an affordable way to get yourself some storage and still be stylish. For only $100 I was able to transform this empty area that was really just "nothing" into a useful storage area in my kitchen. With today's economic climate, I am always looking for ways to improve my home without depleting my checking account.  This proves with a little time, and a little money, you can make something out of nothing!

Materials used for the Job:
1. Copper Pipe
2. Curtain Rings
3. Industrial Shelving ($20 a piece from Home Depot)
4. Linen Fabric
5. Gorilla Glue
6. Some Screws to place the new created rod.
& 7. And of course some time to put it all together!

The Original Avatar Creator

I have been following this artist practically since I have been out of college. Velda Anderson is a local artist from my hometown of Ripley, West Virginia. I believe she is the original Avatar creator, sorry James Cameron. Her oil paintings are very dreamy and whimsical, yet evoke thought and have meaning. She has been featured at the Mountain State Arts & Craft Fair for many years, and I am proud to say that this year I have a acquired her original oil painting "Renaissance Woman" (pictured above). I spoke with the artist about what this painting meant to her, and she said this painting represents a process of renewing yourself. Her artist hand is unique and always a nice surprise.

It is official I am Bloglovin!

I am thrilled to be sharing my ideas, thoughts and creative journey. I hope to post ideas that will inspire you to make your home a place to be proud of, and that showcases your personality.

My recent find was at a local mission store right here in Charleston, WV. I just couldn't pass it up. It is an original oil painting that I picked up for the enormous amount of $2.00. That is right, just a measly two bucks! Enjoy.
